When I photographed vintage pieces for the very first time, I knew immediately that this was what I would like to do more. I love vintage because of the history of the item, and the mostly hand crafted details. To have this for my lens, I could not be happier at that moment. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to shoot some wonderful vintage pieces in boutiques in Nice the last few years. I was really in my element and from then on, I knew I would like to do more with fashion photography.
Photography | My Love for Vintage
In Holland, I only photographed fashion exhibitions, like Audrey with Love, last year. When I have more time, I will look for opportunities to shoot in (vintage) shops. For this post, I collected some photos which I haven’t shown till now.
This photo I took in a vintage shop in Saint Paul de Vence, a hilltop village, in the hinterland of Nice. It was such a wonderful discovery to find such treasures here. One of the reasons is that my book also takes place in this medieval village and has a vintage touch.
Caprice Vintage Shop in Nice has a special place in my heart because I capture these beautiful vintage items twice. I love this shop by its appearance. The cozy corners, full of beautiful vintage finds. The whole shops tell a story, which was very inspiring for me (and my story!).
I love the mirror on this dressing table. Which women have sat for this mirror, looked at herself, dressed in a beautiful gown. Almost ready for the party in one of the villages of the Cote d’Azur. What was her story? I can spend hours fantasizing about this and therefore is vintage so important for me.
I could snoop around for hours. There is so much to see and to discover. When you are in Nice, you have to visit this shop in the old town (12 rue Droite).
(Caprice Vintage Shop) Another cozy corner with beautiful evening clutches and shoes.
(Caprice Vintage Shop) Can you choose?
When my husband and I went to Cannes, we discovered a wonderful vintage market near the port. There were so many beautiful items at such a perfect place.
(Cannes) One of the things of vintage fashion photography is to capture the details of the items. The fashion of the past years has beautiful details. Often it is real handcraft.
