Mademoiselle Vintage Shop in Nice
Last September, I discovered a vintage shop in 41 Rue de France, near Hotel Negresco, named “Mademoiselle”. What I love about vintage is the story of the pieces. One of my favorite things to do is to discover new vintage shops and to take photos of the unique pieces. Especially the details. I never get tired of looking at it.
Vintage plays an important role in the book that I am writing. Vintage is very inspiring because of the story behind the item. Clothes, furniture, accessories. Who wore it? How was the life of this person? What was the feeling or emotion of the owner when he/she bought the item? For me, this questions are very inspiring and important to create a story behind the items.
That’s one reason why I love to go to vintage shops. Another reason is that I love to go on treasure hunting. I have a vintage wish list, which I will share another time. But I am looking forward to the moment that I will find these pieces!
Back to the Mademoiselle Vintage Shop in Nice. I will take you on my tour in this shop…
The window display of the Mademoiselle shop is very picturesque. Look at the Louis Vuitton suitcases and the dress of the mannequin! A chic boutique with the focus on the French classic brands which are gorgeously displayed.
We walked into the shop and I introduced myself to the owners. They were very enthusiastic when I told that I would like to make an article about their shop. They not only sell clothes and accessories but also antique pieces and some furniture. A very inspiring place full of (hi)stories!
I hardly able to take it all in. It felt like that I discovered a secret room of a chic lady. A beautiful lady with style and a wardrobe full of clothes.
I love French vintage. And here, on the Cote d’Azur, you can find the most wonderful pieces. The owners buy the pieces from others which are from a very good quality. That’s their criterion. As I wrote earlier, they also sell antique pieces and that’s make this shop distinctive of other vintage shops.
Making the photos
I could stay for hours. I snooped around and admired the details of Chanel jackets and wonderful gowns. A large collection of the most beautiful shoes and look at that mirror on the photo below!
This Christian Dior dress is like a dream to me.
Midnight parties in Paris or in the Four Seasons hotel at Cap Ferrat.
(I’m just dreaming). I hear the rustle of this gown in the evening breeze.
The candles are flickering. Wine glasses are filled with deep red wine. The moon is shining.
Just a perfect evening…
