Little Paris in Amsterdam

I have a dilemma: I love Paris and I love Amsterdam. Paris is 500 km far, Amsterdam 100. So the decision is clear: I go more often to Amsterdam. Last, I discovered Parisian influences in Amsterdam, a little Paris in Amsterdam,  so if you have the same “problem” as I have 🙂 then read my tips and book that ticket to Amsterdam 🙂

Last year, Cafe de Paris, (Rokin 81/83) where the Dutch version of “How to be Parisian” was presented, has been opened. When I was there, it was full so I have to come back another time!

Grand CafĂ© de l’Opera is a cafĂ© which has a beautiful Art Deco interior. When you take a seat in the greenhouse the you imagine yourself in Paris at that moment! (Rembrandtplein 27-29)

Bookshop “Le Temps retrouve” – do you want buy French books, then is this the right place to be in Amsterdam (Keizersgracht 529).

Fromagerie l’Amuse – do you love cheese? Then is this the perfect place to choose your favorite from 400 cheeses! (Olympiaplein 111)

CafĂ© le Pub – just like a terrace in Paris! Red canopy, the red-white wicker chairs overlooking the square and a beautiful building which looks like a  Parisian Haussmann building. During the 1920s and 1930s it was a famous fashion house: “Hirsch”, nowadays you find the Apple Store. (Leidseplein 2)

Le Fournil – artisan boulangerie francais – This is just a perfect boulangerie in Amsterdam. The baker himself is from France so you can expect home made products. You can buy here such delicies a few steps from the fromagerie l’Amuse to create a delicious lunch or cheese platter! (Olympiaplein 119)

9 Straatjes (the Nine Streets): 9 streets full of boutiques! When I am walking here, it feels like I am walking in Saint Germain des Pres.

Petit Gateau, a French patisserie in the Haarlemmerstraat. I tasted the fig pastry and it was delicious! When I entered the shop, it feels like I was in Paris…all the pastries! It was hard to choose (Haarlemmerstraat 80)

My little Patisserie: situated in the “Pijp” area and is a Parisian style bakery specialized in patisseries with cream will be my first stop when  I am in Amsterdam again! A bientot! (1e van der Helststraat 63)

  2. Oh, dat is tof! Niet dat ik zoveel in de buurt kom daar, maar mijn man zijn hoofdkantoor is in Weesp, dus die kan misschien wel eens een detour maken!

  3. I really want to go back to Amsterdam again, I went when I was in my early 20’s and spent most of it drunk and it rained the whole weekend!
