Hotel Melia Alicante
Last year we traveled to Alicante and we had an hotel which was overlooking the Santa Barbara Castle hill. When we strolled to the city center, my eyes fell on an hotel which was built along the port and the sea, Hotel Melia Alicante.
“Once, we will sleep there,” I said to my husband and he nodded approvingly.
And this came true. We booked a five night stay and from the first moment I entered the hotel, I knew it was a good choice. We arrived in the early morning and the friendly receptionist offered us an upgrade of the room. This room was available immediately and we would have sea view. That sounded as music to the ears. We decided to take the upgrade and we get the key to the 3rd floor. When we opened the door, we did not believe what we saw.
The room of hotel Melia Alicante was one of the most beautiful ones I have ever seen. The first thing I saw was the view from the room. The beach and the sea were almost literally at my feet.
See this room tour to get a good impression:
From the bed I could see the sea and it felt so good! Waking up with the sound of the sea is one of the most beautiful sounds I think. I got up early to enjoy the sunrises. From the first moment I entered this room, I felt different. Relaxed. Holiday time!
The hotel has two pools. One we saw from the hotelroom, the other you can find behind the breakfast room. At the front of the hotel, there is a large and cushy lawn for sun bathing overviewing the port of Alicante. A nice place to rest your feet after a long walk through the city!
There is also a poolbar where you can enjoy a drink. There is also a towel service, what I liked very much. No wet towels in your room and you got everyday clean towels by the pool. Excellent service!
Playa del Postiguet
The hotel borders on Playa del Postiguet which is very clean and wide. In the early mornings, I watched the people from my balcony who made beach walks or took a refreshing dive in the sea.
The buffet was awesome. There was something for everyone. Champagne, juices, tea, coffee, English breakfast, pancakes, fruits, pastries, too many to mention. The hotel also takes account of allergies such as gluten intolerance.
It was wonderful to enjoy breakfast overviewing the sea. I already miss that!
The hotel has a very good location. Near the port of Alicante and across the Explanada de Espana, the “Ramblas” of Alicante with a lot of restaurants, little shops and entrance to the old town of Alicante, which I can highly recommend to visit. In another blogpost I will write more about the old town.
Sunrise and Sunsets from the room
We we had to leave this hotel :(, due to the early flight we had to Rome. Because we could not enjoy the breakfast at a normal time, they offer a breakfast in the lounge across the reception.
It will not be a surprise, that I highly recommend this hotel. If you want to explore Alicante or the surroundings or just enjoy the beach, it is a wonderful place to stay and have a fabulous holiday.
Have you ever been here? And what’s your favorite hotel?
