An house in Provence
As you may know, I am writing my second book. This story will be very different than my first that I’ve written. During my travels to Provence and the Cote d’Azur the story, that was used for a writing contest (The Lavender House), has formed bit by bit. I won this writing contest (see my publications). I got very nice comments about this story, that I decided to work it into a novel.
The story starts in Amsterdam. The main character takes an important decision to improve her life and decides to travel to Paris. She is a modest young lady and she had to take care of her mother and younger sister after her parents’ divorce. She had a hard time in Paris, but because she finds a challenging job, she is really thrilled about it. Her life is completely different when she becomes a famous person in the fashion and magazine world. Can she handle this life? Her girlfriend invites her to come to Nice where she discovers something new. And what’s in the envelope that she found earlier in Amsterdam?
This is in short the story I am writing. But what about the house?
When I write about a place, I have it in my mind. I’m searching on Pinterest so that I get a good imaging. This house will play an important role in my book. My Summer Story was called “the Lavender House”. And then I found the perfect house. A beautiful Provençal house with lavender everywhere.
In real life, this house is a hotel-restaurant in the town of Saint-Cannat in Bouches-du-Rhone, called Mas de Fauchon, not far from Aix-en-Provence.
My thanks go to Mas de Fauchon for using this photo.
