3 Days in Paris | Part 1
At this moment I am reflecting on Paris at my desk at home. Last weekend I was 3 days in Paris and I was the happiest woman on earth :). Two years ago (why?), it was the last time my husband and I visited our beloved city. Too long ago! I needed inspiration and I needed to feel and experience the Parisian way of living again…so I booked the tickets and an hotel. Thursday evening, we set the alarm at 5.45 am.
We arrived in Paris at 10.15 am and my husband and I decided to have breakfast first, before heading to the hotel. We celebrated our Parisian arrival with a breakfast Francaise across the Gare du Nord, at Cafe du Nord. I couldn’t almost believe that I was in Paris. I had to pinch myself several times!
After our delicious breakfast in the sun, we took the metro to the hotel, which is situated in the 15eme, Grenelle. It is a part of Paris where the locals live and it feels almost like a village. When we walked down the street, I saw the Eiffel Tower, glittering in the sun and I had to pinch myself again 🙂
The room was not ready, so we decided to leave the luggage in the hotel. We walked in the direction of the Eiffel Tower, that’s our tradition when we are in Paris. We walked in the neigbourhood, enjoyed the sun at Champ de Mars and felt a little bit hungry.
We had lunch at Brasserie Le Grand Corona at Place de l’Alma where we enjoyed a salmon sandwich. Because we had an early start this morning and a busy work week behind us, we decided to walk back to the hotel. We relaxed for two hours and made us ready for a Parisian evening.
We enjoyed dinner (steak tartare pour moi naturellement!) at Villa 15, a restaurant in the quarter of our hotel and often visited by the Parisians. Each time we are in Paris, we have dinner here, it is one of our Parisian traditions.
The weather was just perfect for a walk along the Seine (I still feel my feet :)). We started on Pont de Bir-Hakeim where you have the most beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. The evening was just perfect, the sunset so beautiful! And the light just perfect to make photos. This walk along the Seine was just a perfect idea. Many people were enjoying this perfect Parisian Summer evening. The atmosphere was really perfect!
We crossed the Pont des Invalides and continued our walk through the Rue Saint-Dominique, which I really enjoyed. I enjoyed window shopping in this street. The next time I will make time for a little Parisian shopping spree 🙂
The cafe’s, the terraces full of people who were celebrating the weekend, the good temperature, Summer evenings in Paris are just the best! And then it happened….
The flashing lights of the Eiffel Tower…so magical and a perfect end of our first Parisian evening.
When we returned to the hotel, I thought about this first day in Paris. It was a long time ago that we made such a long walk along the Seine and this moment will stay me for a long time.
Which special hotspot did I visited on the second day in Paris? Next week I will take you along more Parisian spots in 3 Days in Paris | Part 2.
In the meanwhile, you can read my Parisian Plans which I made before leaving.
What’s your best Parisian memory?
