The Story of my First Book Publishing

Publishing your book.…a dream that came true….A few years ago I took part in a writing competition for the very first time. I had written a manuscript years before but I had never done anything with it.

Now it was my chance!

I wiped the dust off the paper and sent it to the publisher. I was aware that many people participated in writing competitions. Was the manuscript not too short?  What if…
I stopped worrying. If I did not win, I had had the experience at least, I thought.

The Story of my First Book Publishing

On a Friday afternoon, the phone rang. I was just preparing my lunch. It was the publisher. She had read my manuscript and they decided to don’t put it on a long list or a short list. The publisher wanted to publish it immediately.

What? I didn’t believe it what I’ve just heard. I forgot my lunch and called my husband and parents with the good news!

The Publication

My book was published by a printing-on-demand publisher. My father designed the cover. Flyers were printed and I made a mailing list to let everyone know about the publication of my first book.
My first real book! I pinched myself many times during this exciting time. I didn’t believe it until I received the books. It was a special moment, I can tell you.

This book is also translated into Dutch by publisher American Star Books, so that my story can reach more people all over the world.

I encourage everyone to take part in a writing contest. Even if you do not win, you will get the experience and feedback for your future writings!

My book is available here and here.

Have you ever took part in a writing contest?

La Rentrée- The Start of a New Season

La Rentrée- The Start of a New Season

In France, you have the phenomenon La Rentrée – the start of a new season. It is a great happening of the start of a new cultural season, children back to school with new clothes, lunch boxes, new bags etc. With almost ritual ceremony, the new season opens in all kinds of life spheres: political, social, cultural, media. It feels almost like New Year’s Day in September. After weeks of beachlife, sun and holidays, it is time to go back to work and school. The normal life takes over again. Plans must be converted into deeds!

The First 477 Words of My Book

The First 477 Words of My Book

(For Dutch, scroll down)

I wrote so many times about the book that I am writing, so I thought it would be nice to share the first 477 words of my book with my readers. This is the rough draft without an edit, so maybe the words will be changed in the future, but this is the first impression what the story is all about. It is a little bit exciting for me to share this (and I hope I translated well), but I am very curious about your thoughts of these 477 words!
